Efficiency savings

Belfast City Hall The average rates bill in Belfast will rise by around 3.35 per cent from April 2010 – the equivalent of around £2 per month.

We have managed to keep the costs of providing our services down to an increase of 0.59 per cent - well below the rate of inflation (March 2010).

We’ve done this by cutting £7 million of costs out of our budgets since 2006. We will also be cutting a further £2 million from budgets from the start of April 2010.

This has also been achieved without impacting on frontline services. We are keen to make even more savings and plans are currently underway on how to do this.
