Recycling

Belfast currently recycles 31 per cent of its waste but this must increase to 60 per cent by 2020 to avoid heavy fines from the European Union. So, although our recycling rate has improved in recent years, we can still do more to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.

Second chance

If you're looking to find a new home for your unwanted items such as furniture, you can donate them to a local charitable or not-for-profit making organisation.

These items will find a new lease of life with someone who really needs them and avoid ending up in landfill.

These organisations will collect your items from your home free of charge.
