Textile banks
You can recycle textiles such as clothes, shoes, bed sheets and curtains at various licensed textile banks across the city, as well as at our recycling centres and civic amenity sites.By recycling textiles we are helping to keep waste out of landfill, and helping to increase the recycling rate in the city.
The textiles are collected by our contractor and sorted into different categories. If the clothes are fit to be reused they are shipped to countries in Africa and Asia. If the clothes aren't fit to be reused they will be shredded and recycled into cloths for industry.

You can also find your nearest textile bankThe textile banks listed here are also managed by Cookstown Textile Recyclers (CTR) and are licensed by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency. These have been set up as private contracts between CTR and the landowners of the sites. Many textile banks around the city (not listed on this website) are unlicenced and are under investigation by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency. We recommend that you use the textile banks listed below, or those at our recycling centres which are all licenced. Or why not support your local charity shop and donate old clothes, shoes and accessories so they can be reused?
