City of Belfast International Rose Garden
The City of Belfast International Rose Garden is part of Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park, a 128-acre park in south Belfast.
It is one of the world’s leading rose gardens and contains more than 45,000 blooms every summer.
It includes:
- trial and display beds of cluster flowered, large flowered, miniature, shrub and climbing roses
- a historical section tracing the history of the rose
- an Irish heritage garden which includes the best roses from award-winning local breeders
- a Princess Diana memorial garden.
The garden was re-landscaped in the early 1990s and, in 2000, it received the famous Plaque of Merit award.
Every year, the garden attracts attention from international rose breeders, who send their blooms to the park for trial during Rose Week
