Scores on the Doors

Scores on the doors is changing...

From June 2011, the way we rate food hygiene compliance in food businesses is changing. We'll no longer use the current star rating scheme, one of a number of pilot schemes currently operating across the United Kingdom. Instead we'll adopt the national Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) developed by the Food Standards Agency in consultation representatives from local government and food businesses.

It is hoped that the national FHRS will be widely adopted by councils across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, replacing the various local initiatives. A single national scheme will be easier for consumers and food businesses to understand.
