Land and Property Services

If you are aged 70 or above, live alone and still pay rates, you could be entitled to a reduction on your rates bill.

The Lone Pensioner Allowance scheme was introduced in April 2008 and gives eligible seniors a 20 per cent discount on their rates.

It is not means tested.

Age NI

Age NI brings together Age Concern Northern Ireland and Help the Aged to provide a public voice for older people and to raise awareness of issues which affect them.

The website contains links to local groups who work with older people to help them remain active and involved in their communities.

Belfast Central Mission

Belfast Central Mission aims to improve the quality of life for older people by providing emotional and practical support.

As well as residential care, the charity offers a holiday programme, a weekly lunch club, a befriending scheme and regular tea dances.

Citizens' Advice Northern Ireland

Citizens' Advice helps people resolve their financial, housing, legal, employment, immigration, consumer and other problems and is available to everyone.

Age Sector Platform

Age Sector Platform (ASP) was established in 2007 to campaign and lobby for older people in Northern Ireland. It has a membership base of older people’s organisations and networks which represent approximately 200,000 older people across Northern Ireland.
