City Places

Key to the success of delivering local area working is agreeing on a definition of 'local area'. If we have a standard way of describing each area of the city then it makes it easier for us to share our information and coordinate our local activities.

This is more difficult to achieve than it might appear. The reality is that most organisations, communities and individuals have widely different ideas when it comes to describing a local area or neighbourhood. This can become a serious difficulty when they all come together to act on a particular local issue.

The first step is for us to agree on our own description of the city in terms of neighbourhoods or local areas. We can then develop a logical and consistent approach to gathering information and coordinating our local work.

Belfast's City Places

We have created maps which show the boundaries of each of Belfast's 21 City Places.

Again, it is important to understand that we are using these areas for the sole purposes of gathering information and citizen's views at a detailed local level.
