State of the City IV - 2007
Overview
The fourth State of the City conference took place on 19 April 2007 at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast.The delegates discussed a range of key issues in a series of break-out sessions:
- Community Planning
- Making Thematic Partnerships Work
- Delivering Neighbourhood Services.

We had three fantastic speakers at the event:- Professor Michael Parkinson CBE
Presented an update on his influential 2004 Urban Competitiveness Report on Belfast.

- Doctor Tristram Hunt
Historian at Queen Mary's College, regular columnist for The Observer, and author of Building Jerusalem: The Rise and Fall of the Victorian City.

- Councillor Steven Purcell
Leader of Glasgow City Council who shared his city's experience of the community planning process which he has described as the 'structures, processes and behaviours necessary to ensure that organisations work together and with communities to improve the quality of peoples' lives.' Following the Review of Public Administration Belfast is likely to be given similar community planning powers.
