Doctor Tristram Hunt
Tristram is a lecturer in modern British history at Queen Mary, University of London and
visiting professor at Arizona State University. Previously, he was an associate fellow at the Centre for History and Economics, King's College, Cambridge. Tristram Hunt read history at Trinity College, Cambridge and the University of Chicago.
He is the author of The English Civil War: At First Hand and the critically acclaimed Building Jerusalem: The Rise and Fall of the Victorian City. Tristram has worked for the Labour Party on two general election campaigns, as a policy researcher for the Rt. Hon. Tony Blair MP, as a special adviser to the Science Minister and as a research fellow at the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR).
Tristram writes regular Op-Ed columns for he Guardian and The Observer. He is a contributor to the Los Angeles Times and TIME magazine. A leading British history broadcaster, he has authored numerous radio and television series for the BBC and Channel 4. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and a Trustee of the Heritage Lottery Fund. He is currently working on a new project for BBC4 and a biography of Friedrich Engels.
