St George’s Market was named as one of the best in the UK in a survey published online by The Guardian newspaper in January 2010.

The Guardian describes a visit to St George’s Market as being “as much for entertainment as your five-a-day”, highlighting the weekly entertainment programme and the diversity of events which the market also stages. “Musicians serenade you around the Victorian market hall and you may catch a fashion show or food festival,” explain the survey’s authors.

Opening hours: 6am - 1pm
Details: Stalls sell a variety of products including fruit and vegetables, meat and fish, antiques, books and clothes.

City Food and Garden market.

City Food and Garden Market
Day: Saturday
Opening hours: 9am - 3pm
Details: The market offers a huge range of local, continental and specialty foods including meat and fish, cheese, coffee beans, tapas and organic products. There's also entertainment and music on most Saturdays.
