Support for Sport - events funding
Sports events in Belfast, especially those which attract high numbers of visiting spectators and participants, may be eligible for funding as part of our Support for Sport scheme. This grant has previously helped to fund major events in the city, including the CRISRA Boccia World Cup, European Squash Championships, Irish Indoor Athletics Championships and the Jan Kjellstrom International Orienteering Festival.
Who can apply?
The programme aims to attract major sporting events to Belfast and help organisations deliver these events. By increasing the number of international sports events held in Belfast, we hope to build a lasting legacy in which Belfast is regarded as a 'city of sport'.Belfast-based sports clubs or organisations affiliated to a governing body can apply for funding, up to a maximum of £10,000.
Organisations staging a sports event in Belfast will be considered only if their sport is recognised by Sport NI or the council.
