Titanic 1912 - 2012: Our Past, Our Future

Our Future cover Our Past cover We have published a special one-off magazine entitled 'Titanic 1912-2012'. It's divided into two sections – the past and the future.

The first part takes the reader back in time to Belfast of the early 1900s. Using original photography, the publication examines the reasons why the great ship was built right here in Belfast, looks at the men who built her and outlines her fateful maiden voyage.

Fast forwarding to Belfast 2012, the publication previews the world class Titanic Belfast visitor attraction.

It also contains an exclusive account by BBC Northern Ireland reporter Mike McKimm of his unforgettable dive in 2005 to Titanic's wreck site at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

Mike, who is one of only two people from Northern Ireland to visit the world renowned ship in its final resting place, outlines the dangers he faced and the emotional involvement it brought about.

The publication also features comments from Dr Robert Ballard, who discovered the wreck.

There are also contributions from local actor Gerard McCarthy – soon to be seen in the television drama, 'Titanic Blood and Steel' – Eamonn Holmes and Dan Gordon, among others.

The publication was produced with support from Titanic Foundation, Northern Ireland Tourist Board and Titanic Belfast.
