We set up a Traveller Outreach Office, in partnership with the Department for Social Development, The Big Lottery Fund and the Travellers support group, An Munia Tobera. It is located on the Glen Road in Belfast. It allows our staff and other government agencies to communicate directly with the local Traveller Community and provide support.
After school club for travellers
We have also set up an after school club at the Outreach Office.The project aims to tackle many of the difficulties experienced by young Travellers, particularly the lack of safe play areas, leisure programmes and educational and employment opportunities.
The building is kitted out with play equipment and professional play staff are there every week day to organise activities for the children.
It allows children to enjoy a secure, caring and stimulating environment in their early years of development.
