arc 21 Waste Management Plan
arc21 has developed a waste management plan to help meet European Union (EU) targets which limit the amount of waste sent to landfill. All the member councils have agreed to combine their individual landfill allowances to make sure these targets are met.
However, over the next few years, our landfill allowances from the EU will be reduced further and arc21 must find another way of dealing with waste from its members. This is why we want to build a new waste treatment facility.
arc21's Waste Management Plan looks at the patterns of waste produced by member councils and outlines current council-owned and private waste management facilities.
It also contains information about projected waste estimations for the future. The plan is available to download from the arc 21 website
