Belfast City Hall reopening celebrations

Belfast City Hall and Belfast Wheel Belfast City Hall reopened to the public on Monday 5 October 2009 after a massive £11m refurbishment project. The iconic building had been temporarily closed since October 2007.

To celebrate the reopening of City Hall, we held a fortnight of activities, from 17 - 31 October 2009, including films, music, fashion events, tours and a carnival parade.

Renovations to City Hall included replacing heating, mechanical and electrical systems, asbestos removal, drainage improvements, re-roofing and installing computer network systems.

As part of the Belfast City Hall refurbishment, a new coffee shop and exhibition area has been added.
