Recycle week

Recycle week runs from 12 to 18 September, and the theme for this year is ‘The Unusual Suspects’.

During this week we are asking residents to think about the items that are often forgotten about when recycling at home.

Some of these items may include:

  • aerosol cans,
  • toilet roll tubes,
  • shampoo bottles, and
  • bleach containers.

To recycle these items, you can use your recycling bin at home or visit your local recycling centre.

To help inform others of what items can be recycled and what the unusual suspects are, we will be delivering 60 free workshops to schools across Belfast and will have stands in shopping centres and supermarkets.

We will also have food demonstrations at St George’s market with Masterchef finalist, Chef Gerry Faloona where he will discuss food waste, calculating portions correctly and how to use left over’s.
