Shankill Shared Women's Centre
Shankill Shared Women's Centre is a €6.5 million purpose-built shared space for women and their families that will open in 2023. The facility is at the interface area on Lanark Way.
For over 30 years the current Shankill Women’s Centre has provided education, training, health awareness, childcare and activities for women in the Greater Shankill and beyond.
The aim of the new building is to create a welcoming, safe and accessible shared space for women and their families from all communities. Once completed, the new building will mark a new chapter through the partnership with Clonard Women’s Group.
The team operating the current Shankill Women’s Centre will work with Clonard Neighbourhood Development Partnership incorporating Clonard Women’s Group at the new facility to deliver services.
The council-led project is funded by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). The PEACE IV Programme aims to create a more cohesive society through an increased provision of shared spaces and services.
The Department for Communities in Northern Ireland and the Department of Rural and Community Development in Ireland are providing match-funding for project.
Shankill Shared Women’s Centre is one of three PEACE IV shared space projects in Belfast.
