8. Consultation
Belfast City Council is committed to consultation which is timely, open and inclusive and conducted in accordance with the Equality Commission’s Guiding Principles.
This public consultation will run for 12 weeks from 13 November 2025 to 5 February 2026.
All Equality Scheme consultees will be notified of the availability of this EQIA report and invited to comment.
A press release will be prepared and issued to various media outlets to make the public aware of the EQIA.
Newspaper advertisements will be placed in:
- the Andersonstown News
- the Belfast Telegraph
- the Irish News
- the News Letter, and
- the Shankill Mirror.
Information about the EQIA will be placed on Belfast City Council’s website and Your Say Belfast consultation hub (link opens in new window) and through other appropriate social media channels.

You can ask for printed copies of the consultation documents, and we will try to make them available in other formats or languages if you need them. The council’s contact details are below.
Comments will be welcomed from any individual with an interest in the proposals, in whatever format is chosen.
We are planning a series of events across the city. These include drop-in information sessions:
- 9am to 12 noon on Monday 24 November at Whiterock Leisure Centre, Whiterock Road, Belfast BT12 7RJ.
- 4pm to 7pm on Monday 24 November at Shaftesbury Community Centre, 97 Balfour Avenue, Belfast BT7 2EW.
- 9am to 12 noon on Tuesday 25 November at Belvoir Activity Centre, Belvoir Drive, Belfast BT8 7DT.
- 4pm to 7pm on Tuesday 25 November at Shankill Shared Women’s Centre, 239 Shankill Road, Belfast BT13 1FQ.
- 9am to 12 noon on Wednesday 26 November at Tullycarnet Community Centre, Kinross Avenue, Belfast BT5 7GE.
- 9am to 12 noon on Thursday 27 November at Denmark Street Community Centre, 14 Denmark Street, Belfast BT13 2LF.
- 9am to 12 noon on Monday 1 December at the Spectrum Centre, 331 Shankill Road, Belfast BT13 3AA.
- 10am to 1pm on Tuesday 2 December at Cliftonville Community Centre, 60-64 Manor Street, Cliftonville Road, Belfast BT14 6EA.
- 4pm to 7pm on Tuesday 2 December at the Duncairn, Duncairn Avenue, Belfast BT14 6BP.
- 9am to 12 noon on Wednesday 3 December at the Skainos Centre, 239 Newtownards Road, Belfast BT4 1AF.
- 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday 3 December at Andersonstown Leisure Centre, 1 Andersonstown Park, Belfast BT11 8EB.
- 9am to 12 noon on Thursday 4 December at Carrick Hill Community Centre, Stanhope Street, Belfast BT13 1BX.
Plans for Belfast Stories will be on display at 2RA, 2 Royal Avenue, Belfast BT1 1DA from 24 November to 31 December 2025, with scheduled drop-in information sessions also taking place at this venue during this period.
A Belfast Stories Stakeholder Network meeting will take place from 2pm to 4pm on Thursday 4 December, at Olive Tree House, 23 Fountain Street, BT1 5EA.
