We have also received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to conserve the heritage of the City Cemetery.
We have appointed a contractor to carry out the physical works for the project. Initial works will involve the relocation of the current service yard (at the main entrance) to a new site adjacent to Foxes Lodge at the cemetery’s main exit. Once the new service yard is completed the site of the current service yard will be cleared to make way for the development of the new visitor centre. It is currently envisaged that the construction of the new visitor centre will commence this summer for completion by early summer 2021. Alongside these works restoration of some of the site’s key listed assets will also take place.
We're looking for people to get actively involved in the City Cemetery Heritage Project. We plan to deliver a wide range of initiatives from tours to schools programmes to heritage and biodiversity themed activities. If you’d be interested in getting involved in the project or receiving more information please email email@example.com
