Seasonal celebration at Autumn Fair returns to Botanic Gardens

Date: 20 August 2026

Belfast’s popular Autumn Fair returns to Botanic Gardens this September with a packed programme of activities and entertainment for all the family.

The free annual event takes place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, promising flowers, arts and crafts, food, family fun and much more.

One of the event highlights will be the annual Autumn Flower Show, featuring prize-winning autumnal blooms, giant seasonal vegetables and beautiful floral art displays.

This year also marks the 40th Anniversary Exhibition of the Northern Ireland Bonsai Society who will be marking the occasion with bonsai advice, demonstrations, calligraphy and more.

Lord Mayor of Belfast, Róis-Máire Donnelly said:

“Tá muid fíor-bhródúil as na háiteanna glasa fá Bhéal Feirste agus éiríonn siad níos deise fós san Fhómhar - sámpla iontach de seo ná Aonach an Fhómhair a bheas ar siúl in Botanic Gardens.

"Belfast takes immense pride in its beautiful green spaces, and the Autumn Fair is the perfect showcase of the changing of the seasons in the stunning Botanic Gardens.

"This year’s event is packed with free family entertainment, incredible floral displays, live music from acts such as The Professionals and The Drifters and local stalls that showcase the fantastic talent and produce our city has to offer!

“Bígí cinnte go bhfuil tú linn - come along and enjoy this family friendly event.”

This year’s event also coincides with the European Heritage Open Days weekend. As part of its programme, there will be free, ticketed historical tours of Botanic Gardens and its glasshouses where visitors will also be treated to performances by acclaimed local harpist Ursula Burns.

Budding artists will also have the opportunity to sign up in advance to take part in water colour workshops in both the Tropical Ravine and the Palm House.

The eco-conscious will be able to enjoy cookery demonstrations, willow workshops, planting activities, as well as free books and lifestyle advice at the Sustainable Living Emporium.

The Autumn Fair takes place from 12.30pm to 5.30pm on both days.
