  • Glass house tours on 13 and 14 September 2025

Our guided tours visit the Palm House and Tropical Ravine. Tours are free and run at 10am, 11am and 12 noon on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September 2025.

As part of European Heritage Open Days, you’ll learn about the Victorian architecture and plant collection in the Tropical Ravine. The tour highlights how the ravine’s restored building creates connections between our past and future.

Each tour lasts 45 minutes. The tour meets at the front of the Palm House. You don’t need to book a tour. Places are limited and available first-come, first- served. You should wear layers of clothes and bring drinking water because the glass houses can become very warm. The walking tour includes uneven ground.

  • Volunteering at the Tropical Ravine

There are opportunities to volunteer at the ravine. If you have a passion for plants and heritage and would be interested in giving tours and engaging with visitors, you could join our Tropical Ravine team.
