Directions to the Tropical Ravine
You can take Metro bus no. 8 and get off at Queen's University. You can also take Metro bus no.7 and get off at College Park.
You can enter Botanic Gardens at Botanic Avenue, Stranmillis Embankment and University Road. The Tropical Ravine is nearest to the University Road entrance.
Travelling by coach or minibus
There are no parking spaces in Botanic Gardens. Your coach can drop off and pick up along Stranmillis Road.
There are street parking restrictions beside Botanic Gardens. We will not accept responsibility for any parking tickets given to groups. If your group has mobility requirements, please tell us when booking a guided tour.
Attractions and facilities
There are walking routes in Botanic Gardens.
Botanic Gardens has tropical plants, giant bird feeders, a rose garden, an alpine garden, mature trees, flower beds and sculptures.
Breastfeeding is welcome in the Tropical Ravine.

Access to Tropical Ravine ground floor
There is limited access to the ground floor. You can arrange access when booking a tour and for certain activities in the Tropical Ravine Programme.

Victorian Vignette guided tours
Our Victorian Vignette tours in the Palm House and Tropical Ravine take place weekly on
- Tuesday at 2pm
- Wednesday at 11am
- Thursday at 2pm
- Saturday at 10.30am
- Sunday at 1.30pm
The tour lasts one hour. The tour will meet at the front entrance of the Palm House 10 minutes before tour start time.
Booking a tour
Visitors can only access the ground floor during a tour. Booking is essential. Spaces are limited to groups of 20 people. To book your space, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 07775 031 345. There might be a waiting list to book. To book a weekend tour, you must book by 2pm on Friday.
Accessibility at the Tropical Ravine
The Tropical Ravine is accessible to wheelchair-users. There is lift access to the exhibition on the ravine walkway. Some doors are not automatic.
There is an accessible toilet in the building.
People with hearing loss
