Summer schemes in Belfast

  • Overview of summer schemes in Belfast

We support and deliver a range of summer schemes in Belfast in July and August. The available schemes:

    • help keep children entertained and educated over the summer holidays
    • cater for different interests with indoor and outdoor experiences in safe environments, and
    • are designed to be fun, active and affordable.
  • Community centre summer schemes

Delivered in community centres across Belfast, these summer schemes are designed and led by qualified staff. Created for children aged five to 11, activities may include baking, arts and crafts, board games and sports. There can also be an out-of-centre programme involving trips to parks, play and activity centres, forests, and areas of nature as well as local tourist destinations.

There is limited availability for these summer schemes. You can get information about specific summer schemes by contacting a community centre directly. Read more about community centres.

  • Summer schemes for children with disabilities and additional needs

We support summer schemes for children with additional needs. To ensure access to activities, we provide funding for specialist providers to deliver summer schemes in relevant areas.

  • Leisure centre summer schemes

Located in our leisure centres across Belfast, these summer schemes are designed for children aged five to 14. Led by qualified staff, the sessions are packed with games and sports as well as other creative activities. Read more about leisure centre summer schemes.
