Our cafés
The Ability Café operates two venues in Belfast Zoo providing hot and cold food, drinks and snacks. The Zoo Café is near the zoo’s Visitor Centre. The Treetop Tearooms are at the very top of the zoo. Debit and credit card facilities are available in both venues. The Ability Cafés are operated by the zoo’s catering partner, USEL.
Adventurers’ Learning Centre (play park)
This exciting large play park allows visitors to cross crocodile creek, tunnel through meerkat mound or slither to snake island amongst many other fun activities. Picnic benches are located in and near the play park, offering an ideal area for families to rest and play. The play park is open during zoo opening hours.
Zoovenir shop
You’ll find a wide variety of animal themed gifts and souvenirs for you, friends and family, to suit all budgets. The Zoovenir Shop is open during Belfast Zoo opening hours. Debit and credit card facilities are available.
Photography base camp
Get snappy on arrival at the zoo by posing for a souvenir photo at our green screen located near the Visitor Centre. This service, operated by JPB Events, is available daily during July and August, at bank holidays and at selected dates throughout the rest of the year. Current pricing:

Audio tour
We offer a free audio tour for visitors to learn more about our history and the 110 species who call Belfast Zoo home.
Car parking
We have free car parking onsite including over 300 spaces in the upper car park and 80 spaces in the lower car park. We have designated accessible parking bays located near the Visitor Centre entrance.
We have an electronic vehicle charge point near the Visitor Centre entrance.
Toilets
We have male, female and accessible toilets:
- at the Visitor Centre exit
- in the Zoo Café
- at the elephant and giraffe walk
- below the Treetop Tearooms
We also have a Changing Places toilet, suitable for adults with accessible requirements, located in the Visitor Centre. The Changing Places facility is designed with space and equipment for people who are not able to use the toilet independently. The facility has:
- a height-adjustable adult-sized changing bench
- a ceiling-mounted hoist
- a centrally-placed toilet with space either side, non-slip floor, privacy screen, adjustable washbasin and
- emergency alarm
The Changing Places facility is available during the zoo’s opening hours
Baby changing
Baby changing facilities are located in the Zoo Café and in all accessible toilets.
Breastfeeding
We are part of the Breastfeeding Welcome Here scheme (link opens in new window). Breastfeeding is acceptable in all areas of the zoo that are open to the public.
Recycling facilities
Glass and plastic recycling banks are located in the zoo’s main car park.
Personal belongings
Storage lockers are available at the zoo’s Visitor Centre. A charge applies for using the lockers. Lockers are used at the visitor’s own risk and Belfast Zoo accepts no responsibility for loss or damage of belongings. Lockers cannot be used for overnight storage.
Wi-Fi
Free Belfast Wi-Fi is available in the Visitor Centre.
