Getting around

Belfast Zoo is located on Cave Hill and some of the paths are on steep gradients but the views of Belfast from the top of the zoo are highly recommended. The zoo map highlights areas of the zoo with higher gradients. The zoo currently operates a one-way system around the zoo.

We recommend wearing suitable, flat footwear and clothing suitable for wet weather as the zoo is primarily an outdoors facility. Wet weather shelters and indoor animal houses are located throughout the zoo site. Refunds will strictly not be granted for reasons relating to wet or poor weather.

You can view many of our animals in the zoo whether they are outside or inside their houses including farm animals, reptiles and amphibians, spider monkeys, Moloch gibbon, elephants and giraffes, monkey house, chimpanzees, western lowland gorillas, Barbary lions, penguins and California sea lions.
