Celebrate Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann with music, storytelling, heritage and family fun at Belfast Castle and Belfast Zoo.
We have created a special event with the zoo that's inspired by Belfast's rich history, culture and folklore. Whether you’re discovering local legends through animal-themed experiences at Belfast Zoo, enjoying traditional music in the grounds of Belfast Castle or exploring the dramatic landscape of Cave Hill Country Park, there’s plenty to enjoy.
Start your adventure at Belfast Zoo
Park at the zoo to begin your experience of Tales, Traditions and Tails. You'll need a ticket to enter the zoo. You can book tickets online (link opens in new window).
Enjoy animal encounters, live entertainment and family activities as part of the Fleadh. Follow a guided walking tour along the Mythical Creature Trail which links Belfast Zoo and Belfast Castle.
Continue your adventure at Belfast Castle
Explore the castle's historic grounds, enjoy the event programme and take in spectacular views across Belfast and Belfast Lough.

Browse handcrafted gifts, artisan food and locally made products from talented traders.
Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 August
- Music in Castle Gardens, 10am to 5pm
Bring your instrument and join musicians for this open musical gathering. Everyone is welcome. Booking isn't needed.
Wednesday 5 August
- Céilí at the castle, 8pm to 10pm, admission is £10 and payable on arrival.
Thursday 6 August
- Guided walk in Irish, 10am to 12 noon
Led by Cormac Ó hÁdhmaill and Cavehill Conservation Campaign. - Fusion Dance Troupe at 2.30pm
Enjoy a live performance in the Castle Gardens.
Friday 7 August
- Yoga in the gardens, 9am to 11am
Admission is £10, you need to book to attend. - Rosemary art exhibition, 9am to 5pm
A free exhibition in the castle. - Guided walk in English, 10am to 12 noon
Led by Cormac Ó hÁdhmaill and Cavehill Conservation Campaign. - Storytelling sessions in the Castle Gardens, 12 noon to 2pm
