Work placements

  • Belfast City Council

We're one of the largest employers in Belfast and we're keen to support those who need help getting on the employment ladder, whether you're a graduate, school leaver, registered disabled or in long-term unemployment.

We work with the Department for the Economy to offer placement opportunities through a range of schemes and initiatives, including:

    • Steps to Success
    • Youth Employment Scheme
    • Training for Success.

We also provide paid one-year industrial placement opportunities for students at local universities in a range of areas, including IT, communications, events management and environmental health. We advertise these opportunities on our job vacancies page. We are currently unable to accept work experience or university placements for Belfast Zoo.

For information on our placement opportunities, call into your local Jobs and Benefits Office. To find your nearest office, visit nidirect (link opens in new window).

As part of our employability outreach programme, we're committed to providing 150 work experience placement opportunities each year.
