Traffic information for Halloween Monster Mash

26 Oct 2017
This year’s Halloween Monster Mash event will have more than a pinch of Mexican spice. The celebrations, organised by Belfast City Council, take place at the Titanic Slipways this Sunday, 29 October.

The fantastic free family event will offer a host of ghoulishly good entertainment with a Día de Muertos or ‘Day of the Dead’ theme from 4pm-7pm, drawing to a dramatic close with Belfast’s largest fireworks display.

Free ‘ghost shuttle buses’ will be available to whisk ghouls and skeletons to and from the event. Buses depart from Chichester Street (outside SS Moore’s) every 15 minutes, from 3.45pm - 6.30pm, and will drop off on Queen’s Road.

A return service will run from the Titanic Film Studio on Queen’s Road to Belfast City Hall between 7pm - 8pm.

Or why not arrive at the event in style in the Wicked Wee Tram? Take a free eerie expedition on The Wee Tram which will be running continuously from the Premier Inn Hotel on Queen’s Road, to the Titanic Slipways between 4pm-7pm.

Whilst there is no dedicated car parking for the event, pay spaces are available in the city centre, as well as car parks and on-street parking for those wishing to use the ghost shuttle. Car parking is also available in Titanic Quarter on surface carparks near to The Slipways at Titanic Belfast and at the Belfast Met. There is, however, no on-street parking on the Queen’s Road.

Belfast Lord Mayor, Councillor Nuala McAllister said: “Get your spookiest costume on and come on down to the Titanic Slipways on Sunday. There’ll be a real carnival atmosphere with live music from The Unusual Suspects, magical entertainment from ArtsEkta’s Day of the Dead dancers and Strand Extreme Scary Samba dancers, themed crafts from Young at Art and ArtsEkta, Science Starz hands on science activities and demos with plenty of gloopy slime and dry ice!

“The timing’s just right for families to come down with young children, and for those who are planning to enjoy later celebrations in the city, it’s the perfect start to the evening, with our jaw dropping fireworks display planned for approximately 6:45pm.”

Host Stephen Clements, Q Radio’s Breakfast presenter, said: “Q Radio are absolutely thrilled to be involved in this year’s Belfast City Council Halloween Monster Mash and can’t wait to get down to Titanic Slipways with the Q Super bus and our promo teams. You certainly won’t find a more spectacular fireworks display anywhere near here – and it’s all for free!"
