Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Nuala McAllister, has opened the new TinyLife headquarters in east Belfast saying the organisation does ‘amazing work’ in supporting parents and families of premature and sick babies.
The Lord Mayor was joined by President and Founder of TinyLife, Professor Jim Dornan and TinyLife Chief Executive Officer, Alison McNulty at the new family centre at Arches Centre, Bloomfield Avenue .
Councillor McAllister welcomed the new facility and said: “Becoming a parent is an exciting but also very anxious time, and TinyLife does amazing work to support parents and families who have the added worry of caring for a premature or sick baby. The work they are doing is invaluable, and I’m delighted to see the charity go from strength to strength and to be here today to celebrate the opening of these fantastic new headquarters.
“While the new Family Centre is in Belfast, there is no doubt that families right across Northern Ireland will benefit from the services being provided, and I wish the charity every success as it continues its wonderful work.”
TinyLife CEO, Alison McNulty said: “I’m delighted to announce the opening of our new Family Centre. I’m also excited to have this opportunity to support our current service users while reaching out to other small charities, whom we can now facilitate for events and meetings in our Family Support Room.”
The new Family Centre boasts a dedicated sensory room, packed with equipment designed to engage and encourage development in infants, a parent support room, space for group massage and a dedicated counselling room to facilitate families. The space is also available as an outreach base for other small family charities who TinyLife work with. Additionally, the larger premises offer additional scope for the charity’s growing support staff and fundraising team.
