Business boost for West Belfast

14 Jun 2018
Businesses in West Belfast have come together for the launch of the WestSpend campaign supported by Belfast City Council.

Businesses from areas including; hair and beauty, estate agents, pharmaceutical, dental, arts, food, homeware, florists, electric and more have opted to participate in the scheme which will provide sustained marketing and PR support over the next nine months.

The council agreed to the funding to alleviate pressures on businesses due to the ongoing construction works resultant from projects such as the exciting new rebuild of Andersonstown Leisure Centre and Belfast Rapid Transport.

Initiatives such as targeted marketing and advertising, event management, positive PR and signposting to Council support will be provided to any business which opts into the new scheme.

The core aims of the initiative are to enhance footfall in the designated area, maintain existing business, drive new business, create innovation and showcase the area as a consumer friendly space.

Donal Lyons, Chair of the Council’s City Growth and Regeneration Committee stated; “I welcome the launch of this scheme and I think it comes at a good time for the area. It is no secret that many businesses have been under pressure with the ongoing construction works in Andersonstown, therefore, with the support of the local community, this initiative will provide a much needed boost to businesses. I would encourage all eligible businesses to get involved and opt into the scheme which is free.

This transitional period of construction has undoubtedly caused disruption however, with the roadworks almost complete, the future looks bright for the entire area.”

Businesses positioned along the top of the Andersonstown Road right down to Whiterock on the Falls Road are all eligible to participate, and whilst all businesses in this designated area have been approached, there is still time to get involved.

There is still time for any business in the area to get involved, so to register your interest and find out more, please email
