At Council's Planning Committee this evening, approval was granted for a new single storey extension and an additional 8 class school building at St Bride’s Primary School in Derryvolgie Avenue, south Belfast.
The buildings would replace 3 temporary classrooms currently on site and provide 8 classrooms and additional support rooms for the school. As part of the planning application, permission was further granted for an off-road drop-off/collection lay-by on the school’s Windsor Avenue campus including a new access onto Windsor Avenue.
The Committee also approved an application for a proposed heritage and community centre on land north of the former Corpus Christi College and east of the Michael Davitts Club in west Belfast. The development would include a multi-use hall and exhibition space, new car park and exhibition signing on an existing walking trail along the boundary of the GAC Club.
Councillor Matt Garrett, Chair of the Planning Committee, said: “It’s always good to see planning applications come before Planning Committee that will be a real benefit for our residents and communities. The school extension at St Bride’s will certainly benefit our very youngest residents - the school pupils, teaching staff and wider school community.”
