St Patrick's Day - 17 March, BelfastSt Patrick's Day Carnival and Concert

Our 2010 St Patrick's Day celebrations will offer a colourful carnival atmosphere for the whole family to enjoy!

Carnival

The carnival procession, featuring hundreds of participants from all corners of Belfast, will leave Belfast City Hall at 12 noon, move down Chichester Street then into Victoria Street and from there to Custom House Square. The carnival parade, with the theme of Spring, will feature the biggest springtime bouquets ever seen in Belfast, surrounded by huge exotic butterflies!

Working with community groups

The Beat Initiative - who are organising the carnival on our behalf - have been working with community groups from across Belfast to create their own colourful carnival pieces to take part in the parade.

Groups will be joined in the parade by a host of carnival performers, floats, music and percussion from local traditions fused with carnival styles.

Transport

There will be some disruption along the carnival procession route between 12 noon and 1pm. We hope that disruption will be kept to a minimum.

Drivers should proceed with care, as there will be large numbers of pedestrians in and around the Queen’s Square and Victoria Street areas during the afternoon.

Buses
