Arrangments made for hardship payments

Belfast City Council is contacting householders who are eligible for hardship payment to arrange collection of cheques.
Cheques will be issued - by prior arrangement only - today, Saturday morning and on Monday and Tuesday afternoons.
They are contacting people directly to advise if they are eligible for payment following inspections and assessments of around 900 properties to date. The council will make special arrangements for those who are unable to travel to collect cheques.
Anyone who has been affected by flooding in the Belfast City Council area should call 0800 707 6965. Flooding advice and information is also available on the council website www.belfastcity.gov.uk/flooding
As of this morning, 1,200 calls have been made to the council`s flood helpline and contractors are currently out on the ground providing assistance to 175 households.
The council has also delivered more than 4,000 sandbags across the city.
