GLL Sports Foundation Awards

The annual GLL Sports Foundation Awards are the largest independent athlete support programme of its kind in the UK.

GLL operate our leisure centres in Belfast, under the Better brand.  

With their support, elite athlete can focus on their sporting careers and achieve their dreams at national and international level.  

Applications for the 2026 programme are open until 20 February 2026, with more information available on the Better NI website.

Successful athletes are then invited to take part in a special awards event at City Hall in May 2026, with full details to be confirmed. 

This event is organised by our council and is part of our European City of Sport 2026 programme, together with our leisure partners, GLL, and ACES – Worldwide Capitals and Cities of Sport Federation.
