Get active and try something new with a weekend of free events at Girdwood Community Hub this Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March.

The programme begins on Saturday (28 March) with a free multi-sport ‘try-it’ day from 10am to 1pm, delivered as part of Belfast’s European City of Sport 2026 programme, in partnership with Communities NI.

Participants can drop in and take part in a range of sports, including boxing, breakdancing, tai chi, hyrox, volleyball and pickleball. No booking is required, and all ages and abilities are welcome.

On Sunday (29 March), the popular ‘Spring into Girdwood’ community fun day takes place from 12pm to 3pm, offering a wide range of activities for families and local communities to enjoy.

There’ll be more sports on offer, including BMX, skateboarding and a climbing wall, alongside live music and drumming, inflatables, arts and crafts, a gaming bus, sensory bus, face painting, and special character appearances.

A quiet space will also be available throughout the day to help ensure the event is accessible for all.

Both events are free to attend, with no tickets required.

Visitors are encouraged to use public transport where possible when travelling to the events.

Everyone is welcome to come along, get involved and enjoy a weekend of sport, creativity, and community activity.
