Lord Mayor opens Book of Condolence for HRH The Duchess of Kent

The Lord Mayor of Belfast Councillor Tracy Kelly has opened an online book of condolence in memory of HRH The Duchess of Kent at Belfast City Hall.

The Lord Mayor spoke of her sadness and said: “On behalf of the citizens of Belfast, I wish to mark the passing of Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Kent.

“The Duchess was renowned for her grace and compassion and was a regular attendee at the annual National Day of Remembrance at Belfast City Hall for many years.

“I would offer our condolences to HRH The Duke of Kent, his children and grandchildren and the wider Royal Family as they mourn their loss.”

The Lord Lieutenant for the County Borough of Belfast, Dame Fionnuala Jay-O'Boyle DBE DStJ DDL also spoke of her sadness and said: “May the angels lead you into paradise and flights of angels sing you to your eternal rest. Requiescat in Pace.”

An online book of condolence can be signed on www.belfastcity.gov.uk/condolences.

The book will be available to sign until Tuesday 16 September.
