At Belfast Magistrates Court, on Tuesday 1 September 2026, Mr Nikolas Kudrik of, Thalia Street Belfast, was convicted of a littering offence after he left bagged waste in a public alleyway behind Thalia Street, which was detected by Council Enforcement Officers on 6 January 2026.
Mr Kudrik contested the matter but was convicted and ordered to pay a total of £295, consisting of a £150 fine and £145 costs.
Leaving waste in alleyways, on pavements and other public spaces is an offence which the Environmental Enforcement Team will investigate and take appropriate enforcement action and, where necessary, pursue offenders through the court.
Anyone found guilty of illegal dumping and leaving excess waste in our streets may receive a fixed penalty notice. Larger instances of fly-tipping can carry a fine of up to £2,500 from the courts.
