A Belfast man was sentenced at Belfast Magistrates Court on Tuesday 12 August 2025, following his conviction for offences following a dog attacking another dog.
Caolan Doherty of Rinnalea Grove, Belfast was prosecuted after reports that a Pocket Bully type dog owned by Mr Doherty had attacked a Cockapoo type dog at Lenadoon Avenue on 14 January 2025.
Mr Doherty was convicted of an offence Article 28(2) of The Dogs (Northern Ireland) Order 1983 following the attack.
Additionally, Mr Doherty was convicted of five offences of keeping a dog without a licence at his home address in January 2025.
Mr Doherty received a fine of £250 for the dog attack and a further £90 for each of the five licensing offences. This meant he was fined a total of £700 with further legal and court costs of £72.
