What is Universal Credit?

Universal Credit is a monthly payment for people who are aged between 18 and 65 on a low income or out of work. It replaces six working age benefits that you may previously have been entitled to:

• Jobseeker's Allowance (Income based)
• Employment and Support Allowance (Income based)
• Income Support
• Housing Benefit
• Child Tax Credit
• Working Tax Credit
