Brighter Belfast
Brighter Belfast is our campaign to create a clean and attractive city. We've always put lots of time, effort and money into this but, since 2003, we've been putting extra money towards it so we can try out new things. Use the links below to find out what we do:
Anti-litter projects
We aim to make Belfast a cleaner and brighter place to live or visit.
We encourage people to dispose of their litter properly.
Spend more time in Belfast We want to encourage tourists, shoppers and people who work in the Belfast to stay in the city centre after 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Brighter Belfast Environmental Awards
The winners of the 2008 awards have been announced. Find out which groups have been rewarded for their work in improving the environment.
Art pieces in the city
Art makes the city more attractive.
We work with local groups and organisations to design art pieces that capture a sense of their community.
Flyposting and graffiti removal
We remove flyposting and graffiti. Flyposting is unsightly and uses valuable resources of time and money to remove.
Environmental projects
We want to improve the environment in deprived areas and to develop local peoples` confidence and improve relations within the area.
Belfast in Bloom
Belfast in Bloom encourages residents and businesses to make Belfast as attractive as possible by using flowers in a creative way.
Growing for Health
This scheme encourages people to grow fruit and vegetables in their own gardens, promotes healthy eating and the use of public parks and open spaces
Renewing the Routes
This partnership scheme aims to improve the environment along some of the city`s major roads.
Pride of Place Awards
Pride of Place is an all-Ireland competition which recognises and celebrates the contributions that community groups make to society.
