Peace IV

  • PEACE IV Programme

The PEACE IV Programme ran from 2018 to 2023 - a cross-border initiative supporting peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the border region.

We delivered PEACE IV projects across the city through our Belfast PEACE IV Local Action Plan.

PEACE IV was funded through the European Union and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

The programme's aim was to promote positive relations, with cultural diversity celebrated and people living, learning and socialising together - free from prejudice, hate and intolerance.

  • PEACE IV Local Action Plan

Our PEACE IV Local Action Plan was designed to:

    • address local needs
    • be inclusive in nature, and
    • provide opportunities for our residents to be involved in peace-building and reconciliation activities.

Over £14 million of PEACE IV funding was secured to deliver our plan across three themes:

    • Children and Young People
    • Shared Spaces and Services
    • Building Positive Relations

Our Shared City Partnership oversaw the implementation of the Belfast PEACE IV Local Action Plan.

  • PEACE IV publications

As part of the delivery of PEACE IV, we published:

    • 'Progressing Peace', this report charted the progress of our Belfast PEACE IV Local Action Plan and provided an overview of our PEACE IV projects
    • 'Belonging to Belfast’, this report featured interviews with residents from different cultures and backgrounds who took part in our Culture Café series. Our Culture Cafés ran throughout the PEACE IV Programme.
