The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on businesses across the city.
We are launching a pilot programme to offer support to traders and business associations outside the core city centre and Business Improvement Districts (BIDs).
Supporting Vibrant Business Destinations is a partnership with the Department for Communities. It will support business groups that wish to set up a new, constituted business association or re-energise existing business associations that have been inactive.
The overall aim is to strengthen the competitiveness of retail communities along arterial routes and create more vibrant local business destinations.
An expression of interest (EOI) is now open for business groups that are interested in accessing support. Successful completion and submission of the EOI will be followed by a two-stage process.
Stage 1 will provide advice and guidance to new and existing constituted business associations to develop an area-based action plan. Each plan will set out priority areas of focus for each destination. Completion of Stage 1 is a pre-condition to apply for funding for the next stage.
Stage 2 will allow new and existing constituted business associations to apply for funding up to a maximum of £40,000 to deliver their area-based action plan.
Each area action plan might include activities such as:
- initiatives to drive footfall
- developing business skills
- creating networks
- animating areas
- small-scale environmental improvements
We’re currently inviting expressions of interest from groups who wish to access the programme. To find out more, email email@example.com
We will be accepting expressions of interest until May 2023 but groups hoping to avail of the funding should note that Stage 2 programme activities must be delivered and complete by October 2023.
