City for employability and skills
Our vision is to ‘realise the potential of Belfast’s economy and its people by transforming skills, employability and aspiration, resulting in higher levels of business growth, employment and incomes’.
This vision comes from the Belfast Agenda, a community plan created by a partnership of key city partners, residents and community organisations. The plan sets out our joint vision and long-term ambitions for Belfast’s future, as well as outlining our priorities for action over the next four years.
We’re working with a range of partners to address the skills and employability challenges facing our city.
Key themes from the framework include:
- promoting joint working and better coordination of services to unemployed people, employers and employees
- supporting targeted employability initiatives to help people find employment
- providing active outreach to engage unemployed people and increase access to services in disadvantaged areas
- maximising employment and training outputs from major regeneration and development schemes in the city.
Our Youth Initiatives aims to help young people build and develop skills to help people find employment.
