Lord Mayor of Belfast Councillor Daniel Baker has praised city partners for their creative efforts in showing their appreciation for key workers across Belfast during these unprecedented times.

Lord Mayor of Belfast Councillor Daniel Baker has praised city partners for their creative efforts in showing their appreciation for key workers across Belfast during these unprecedented times.

Belfast City Centre Management, Galaxy Facilities Management and Ulster University have teamed up to express their thanks by projecting the logos of organisations representing a wide range of sectors, onto the main fa├žade of the university building at Cathedral Gardens.

Councillor Baker said: “As we continue to deal with the unprecedented challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic it’s important for us to pause and show our thanks and appreciation for those frontline and key workers who are working tirelessly to keep us safe and keep the city going.

“This collaboration between Belfast City Centre Management, Galaxy Facilities Management and Ulster University is a really imaginative way of demonstrating our thanks as a city and expressing our solidarity with our key workers. These messages of support, no matter how big or small, can have such a positive impact on those leading the fight against this pandemic.”

He added: “I’m delighted too that City Hall will again be lighting up blue this evening in support of our NHS heroes and all our frontline services, as part of the #clapforcarers initiative. My message remains the same, you are not alone. We are all in this together.”

The projection will take place at 9pm this evening (Thursday) on the university building at York Street finishing at 12 midnight.
