    There are weather warnings for strong winds and snow and ice in Northern Ireland moving into Saturday 25 January.

    We will update this page with changes to services and venues as information becomes available. It is subject to change, so make sure to check the updates regularly. Please take care when you're out and about.

    Use of leisure centre facilities

    If you have been affected by power outage, our GLL leisure centres will reopen from 10am to 4pm on Sunday 26 January, as a warm space to charge your devices and use complimentary showering facilities. You’ll find a list of them here.

    Fallen trees

    If a fallen tree is blocking a street, road or pavement, you should report this on nidirect website.

    If a tree has fallen in one of our parks or open spaces, you should report this by completing our online form.

    Power cuts

    To report a power cut, visit NIE.

  • Bin collections

    There were no bin collections on Friday 24 January. Please put your bin out by 7am on Saturday and we will attempt to collect it then. If it is not picked up, bring your bin back in and present it again by 7am on Sunday for collection.

  • Bryson box collections

    There were no Bryson box collections on Friday 24 January.

    If Friday was your normal collection day for Bryson boxes, they will be lifted on your next collection day.

  • Recycling centres and civic amenity sites

    Our recycling centres and civic amenity sites are open as normal.

  • City Hall

    City Hall is open as normal on Saturday 25 January.

  • Parks, open spaces and playgrounds

    Most of our parks are open from Saturday 25 January. Those that remain closed are:

    • Barnett Demesne Mountain Bike Trail
    • Palm House in Botanic Gardens 
    • Cherryvale
    • Clement Wilson
    • Half Moon Lake
    • Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park
    • Waterworks

    Mary Peters Track is currently closed but awaiting site inspection. Victoria Park is open, but the middle walk is closed.

    Parkruns were cancelled on Saturday 25 January.

  • Pitches

    All our grass and 3G pitches are closed on Saturday 25 January and Sunday 26 January, due to the effects of Storm Éowyn. Outdoor pitches at our leisure centres are also closed.

  • Cemeteries, cremations and burials

    Dundonald Cemetery remains closed on Saturday 25 January.

    City Cemetery and Knockbreda Cemetery are open to the public from Saturday 25 January.

    Burials and cremations due to take place on Saturday 25 January at Roselawn will take place as normal.

    Cremations due to take place at Roselawn on Sunday 26 January will take place as scheduled.

    Roselawn Cemetery is not open for visiting on Saturday and Sunday due to the effects of Storm Éowyn.

  • Births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships

    The Registrar's Office will reopen on Monday 27 January as normal. 

  • Malone House, Belfast Castle and 2 Royal Avenue

    Malone House and 2 Royal Avenue are open as normal on Saturday 25 January.

    Belfast Castle is closed on Saturday 25 January.

  • Markets

    St George's Market and Smithfield Market are open as normal on Saturday 25 January.

  • Leisure centres

    Our leisure centres are open as normal on Saturday 25 January.

    Olympia Leisure Centre Spa is closed.

  • Car parks

    Our car parks are open but please take care using them, due to the conditions after the storm.

  • Night-time noise service

    The night-time noise service will resume at 8pm on Saturday 25 January.

  • Public toilets

    Public toilets are open as normal on Saturday 25 January, except for Agnes Street and Drumglass Park toilets which are currently closed.

  • Belfast Zoo

    Belfast Zoo is closed on Saturday 25 January and Sunday 26 January.

  • Other services which may be affected

    • Dog warden service
  • Port Health

    Our Port Health service is now fully operational, and our inspection facility at 5 Corry Place has reopened.
