Burials can take place in four of our cemeteries - Roselawn, Dundonald, Belfast City Cemetery and Knockbreda Cemetery.
Roselawn is currently the only cemetery with new burial plots available. You can only buy a new grave at the time of bereavement, so that you can arrange a burial. You can’t buy graves in advance. To buy a grave, you buy what are known as “exclusive rights of burial” for a grave space. We then consider this grave to be privately owned.
When you purchase the exclusive rights of burial, you only purchase the right to bury. You do not purchase the land.
There are no new grave plots available in either Dundonald or Belfast City Cemetery, but burials can still take place in existing graves.
To book a burial in a new or existing grave, you (or someone acting on your behalf, normally a funeral director) can telephone our Bereavement Services Office on 028 9027 0296.
It is open from 8.30am to 4pm, Monday and Friday, 9.00am to 4.00pm Tuesday to Thursday, and 8.30am to 11.30am on Saturdays. Opening hours may vary during public holidays.
