We support a number of projects, aimed at promoting the integration and inclusion of new communities.
We provide training on issues relating to migration and addressing the myths and misinformation that can cause division. We also chair a migrant forum that supports networking and communication between practitioner organisations.
Refugee transition guide
This guide was developed by The
Refugee and Asylum Forum in partnership with Belfast City Council, NIHE
and The Law Centre. It gives vital information to anyone who is applying
for, or has recently gained refugee status in Northern Ireland.
We have produced a guide for those who have recently arrived in Belfast. It includes information about a range of support services, including:
- business advice
- community safety
- family support
- language classes
- recreation activities.
The Northern Ireland Strategic Migration Partnership has produced a migrant community profile pack to help us promote equality and good relations.
The pack maps the size and diversity of migrant and minority ethnic communities in Belfast, and includes details on nationalities represented, the level of economic activity of migrant and minority ethnic communities, their needs in relation to public services and housing as well as levels of racist hate crime offences.
The Law Centre (NI), together with the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission, has produced an update to their guides for migrant workers.
The guides explain the different rights and entitlements you have while working and living in Northern Ireland. They also contain advice about what to do if you feel your rights are not being recognised.
All the guides are available from the Law Centre NI website.
