Belfast Zoo reserves the right to refuse admission to the site or facilities, and revoke, with immediate effect, the permission to use or to have continued use of site or facilities, if there is a breach of the following terms and conditions:
Party and guests
- Birthday party package is suitable for ages 4-16 years.
- A minimum number of 10 paying party guests is required.
- Parties must have at least one supervising adult for every five children.
- The maximum number of total guests we can accommodate in the zoo party room is 35 persons (including adults), therefore 35 persons must include seven supervising adults.
- The party organiser is responsible for ensuring capacity is not breached, and ensuring all supervising adults maintain adequate standards of health and safety at all times.
- Children aged 16 and under must be supervised by an adult at all times.
- Downloadable invites will be emailed to the party purchaser when payment is made and booking is confirmed.
- A gift and birthday card will be provided for birthday child. Belfast Zoo will select gift at their own discretion based on the favourite animal information provided by the party organiser, and availability of stock.
- Strictly one gift and card is included per birthday party booking. For multiple birthdays in one party, an additional fee to cover additional gifts will be charged.
- One goodie bag will be provided for each paying party guest. Belfast Zoo reserves the right to change the items in the goodie bag at their own discretion.
- Gifts and goodie bags cannot be changed, transferred or refunded.
- There will be an opportunity to take photos with zoo mascot when the group arrives in the party room at the selected hire time. Note, if the party group arrives late to the party room the photo opportunity will be at the discretion of staff.
- Belfast Zoo will make every effort to accommodate visitors with a disability or learning difficulty, however this may not always be reasonably possible. The party organiser should notify zoo staff in advance of any guest disability requirements or this may not be guaranteed to be in place on the day of the party.
Payment and prices
- Birthday party tickets are only for children aged between 4 and 16 years old and include entry to the zoo.
- Your party date is not secured until full payment is made.
- Full payment for all attendees must be paid at the time of booking by cash or credit card. We do not take deposits.
- Additional party guests can be added but must be paid in full to confirm their place. Food choice cannot be guaranteed within two weeks of the event date.
- Non-supervising accompanying adults will receive 10% discount on the zoo’s standard admission prices. These visitors must strictly enter the zoo with the party group.
- Prices are non-negotiable and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion.
- Belfast Zoo reserves the right to charge additional fees for any extended room or facilities use outside of the agreed booking period.
- Party catering information and dietary requirements must be confirmed a minimum of two weeks in advance of the party date. Any cancellations within this period, including cancellations relating to COVID-19, will not be refunded.
- If party catering confirmation is not received in the required time, availability cannot be guaranteed.
- Catering is not included for any accompanying guests including supervising adults, however additional catering can be purchased on the day at the Zoo Café.
- Payment for accompanying guest catering must be paid in full on the day of your visit. Late cancellations will not be accepted and payment must still be made.
- The party organiser is welcome to bring their own birthday cake, but candles are not permitted.
- Consumption of any other food not bought in Belfast Zoo is not permitted in the party room.
Hire and facilities
- The party room hire is for one hour, commencing strictly from the time selected on the booking form.
- The party room is not supervised by Belfast Zoo staff. Adults are responsible for supervising children at all times.
- Belfast Zoo reserves the right to change the party area to another location depending on operational needs.
- The party organiser agrees:
- the facilities will be vacated immediately at the end of the hire period.
- the facilities will be used only for the relevant event and for no other purpose, and will strictly comply with all instructions given by zoo staff with regard to the use of facilities.
- will not make any permanent amendments or additions to zoo premises or equipment, for example pinning nails or pins to walls and/or woodwork. Decorations, display products or other resources the party organiser wishes to erect must be approved in advance by zoo staff.
- will leave the party room clean and tidy, and collect all waste and litter, and place into the refuse bags provided by staff.
- will pay the cost within 30 days of repairing or making good any loss or damage to zoo property that arises during the party.
- all property of persons attending the relevant party shall be removed.
- any zoo resources and furniture in the party room will remain displayed during the party unless otherwise arranged and approved by zoo staff.
- Belfast Zoo
- accepts no responsibility or liability for loss or damage of property or belongings of visitors.
- reserves the right to erect advertising or other resources within party room.
- shall be entitled to access all parts of the building at any time during the party for the purpose of inspection, management and supervision.
- reserves the right to hire other areas within the same building and vicinity at the same time as the party room is booked.
Health and safety
- External entertainment providers are not permitted, for example bouncy castles, face painters.
- Balloons are not permitted due to risk to animal health and safety.
- Smoking in any Belfast Zoo building or premise is strictly prohibited.
- Belfast Zoo is an outdoor attraction. Guests should bring suitable shoes for walking, wet-weather clothing and sun protection.
General
- Entrance to the Zoo is self-guided, and the party group is responsible for making their own way to the party room at the allocated time.
- Visitors must follow Belfast Zoo visitor code at all times whilst on zoo premises. It protects animals and the safety of visitors.
- Practise social distancing at all times
- Follow the recommended one-way system around the zoo
- Wash and/or sanitise your hands before, during and after you visit
- Wear a face covering in all public indoor areas of the zoo
- Do not enter out-of-bounds areas, staff areas or areas of water
- Respect the animals by not banging on the glass of their enclosures
- Do not feed the animals as they will get sick if they eat too much
- Dispose of litter in bins
- Be careful when walking especially on steep hills
- Dogs are not permitted
- Fires or barbeques are not permitted
- No running, ball games, scooters, bikes or Heeleys
- No drones. Selfie sticks are not permitted in animal habitats or over barriers
- No alcohol
- Children under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult at all times
- Due to unforeseen operational and animal care circumstances, Belfast Zoo cannot guarantee that all animals and exhibits will be available on the date selected.
- Normal Belfast Zoo opening times apply.
Cancellation and refunds
- All bookings and tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.
- Refunds are not available in the event of poor weather.
- Belfast Zoo reserves the right to alter or cancel a booking on any given day, and will aim to give as much notice as possible in the event of cancellation.
- Belfast Zoo cannot cover travel, accommodation or any other associated costs in the event of alteration or cancellation.
