We are home to over 100 species of rare, endangered and exotic animals, most of which are facing the threat of extinction in the wild. Situated on the side of Cave Hill, the zoo site spans over 55 acres and includes savannah and grassland-like habitats, a tropical forest and habitats mimicking mountainous terrain, all carefully curated to suit the diverse animal mix that live here.

The Farmyard
Step into the Farmyard and meet some of our friendliest residents. This area offers a glimpse into farm life, where you can observe a variety of domestic animals up close as they graze, root and explore their surroundings. While touching the animals isn’t allowed, it’s a great opportunity to learn about life on the farm and the important role these animals play in agriculture and education.
You can expect to find donkeys, miniature horses, alpacas, rabbits, barn owl and turkeys here.

The Reptile House
Enter a world of scales, slime and survival! The Reptile House is home to some of nature’s most fascinating cold-blooded creatures. These animals are masters of adaptation, camouflage, and unique defence tactics - see if you can spot them all.

The Giraffe House
Towering above the rest, the Giraffe House is home to our gentle giants. With their long necks, unique spot patterns and graceful movements, giraffes are a firm favourite for many visitors. Learn about their natural habitats in Africa, their social behaviours and what it takes to care for the tallest land mammals on Earth. This area was also home to our Asian Elephants before they left for Holland.

Animals of Australia
Travel Down Under and meet the incredible wildlife of Australia in this dedicated habitat. From hopping marsupials to birds, this area showcases the diversity and adaptability of species found only on this unique continent. Learn how these animals survive in harsh environments and discover the important conservation work helping to protect them.
You can expect to find Eastern Grey Kangaroo, Red-necked Wallaby and emu here.

The Primate House
Bursting with energy, the Primate House is where you’ll find some of our most lively and curious animals. This area highlights the intelligence, agility and complex social lives of some of the amazing species we are home to. Watch them swing, play, and interact - and maybe catch a glimpse of their clever problem-solving skills.

The Ape House
Home to our closest living relatives, the Ape House offers a chance to witness the strength, intelligence and emotional depth of great apes. Meet our chimpanzees and gorillas as they climb, forage and interact in their specially-designed enclosure. This is also a key space for learning about conservation and the threats facing these critically-endangered animals.

The Bird Park
Wander through the Bird Park and be surrounded by a chorus of calls, colours and flight. This area showcases avian life from around the globe. Whether you’re a keen birdwatcher or just love spotting feathers and beaks, the Bird Park is a peaceful, vibrant haven for all ages.
You can expect to find parrots, macaws, kookaburra, and other exotic birds here.

The Rainforest House
Step into the steamy, green world of the rainforest - alive with sound and movement. This immersive habitat mimics the tropical climate and is home to a variety of small mammals, birds and our sloth family. Look closely and you may spot fruit bats or tiny birds among the lush plants and vines. Every visit feels like a mini jungle expedition.

The Kingdom of the Barbary Lion
Enter the Kingdom of the Barbary Lion and stand in awe of one of history’s most iconic big cats. Once roaming across North Africa, Barbary lions are now extinct in the wild. Our pride plays a vital role in preserving this majestic species and educating the public about their story. See them rest, play, and rule their rocky kingdom.

Dino Camp and Dino Nursery
Step back in time and uncover the world of dinosaurs at Dino Camp, located next to the Maned Wolf. This immersive area features life-sized dinosaurs that tower over visitors - bringing the prehistoric world to life before your eyes. Follow the trail to learn fossil facts and explore how these incredible creatures once ruled the Earth.
Just around the corner, beside the picnic Area, you’ll find the Dino Nursery. This playful, educational zone invites young explorers to discover how baby dinosaurs hatched and grew, with interactive displays, model eggs and fossil-themed fun.
