Belfast Zoo is reopen

Date: 13 June 2025

Belfast Zoo is reopen

Belfast Zoo is reopen for visiting. This follows a temporary closure after the detection of a small amount of e.coli in a routine water sample taken from the site.

Additional follow-up water supply samples, as recommended by the Public Health Agency, have been tested and meet regulatory standards.

Following engagement with the NI Environment Agency and the Council’s own Environmental Health team, we understand that the previous routine water sample taken was an isolated incident.

Routine testing of water supply is just one measure the Zoo undertakes to ensure the health and safety of visitors, staff and the animals it cares for.

We thank visitors for their patience during this temporary closure, and are sorry for any disappointment caused.

Those who had pre-booked tickets from 10 to 13 June can call the Zoo team on 028 9077 6277 to reschedule their visit or request a refund.
